Parros Horizon Cruise Ship

On August 12th, 2079. A large cruise ship tagged with the name Parros Horizon moved steadily across the vast open ocean, its enormous hull cutting a clean path through the deep blue water as its engines maintained a deliberately relaxed cruising speed toward the distant island ahead. Despite the tremendous size of the vessel, its movement appeared almost effortless from the upper decks, with white foam curling outward from the bow before dissolving into the rolling waves and leaving behind a broad wake that stretched far into the distance. The Horizon itself was a massive modern luxury cruise ship designed to carry thousands of passengers comfortably across long stretches of ocean, with restaurants, pools, lounges, observation areas, shops, entertainment spaces, recreational facilities, and countless private balconies occupying its towering decks. Navy-blue sections along its hull were decorated with elegant golden patterns and nautical designs, while the name "Parros Horizon" was displayed prominently across the forward section of the vessel. Even with all its amenities and passengers, however, the ship seemed remarkably small compared to the seemingly endless ocean surrounding it, especially now that there were no other major vessels or pieces of land nearby.

There was still nothing resembling a harbor immediately around them. No tugboats waited nearby, no docking platforms stretched into the water, no smaller transportation vessels approached to meet them, and the shoreline was still far too distant for most passengers to distinguish individual buildings without binoculars or the powerful zoom of a camera. Their destination Island was visible, but only as an enormous distant landmass resting against the horizon, its highest formations appearing first while much of the lower coastline remained obscured by distance and atmospheric haze. At their current speed, there was still considerable travel remaining before the ship would even reach the designated approach corridor leading toward Parros Harbor, meaning everyone aboard had plenty of time to enjoy their first view of the island before the complicated docking procedures began.

From the upper observation decks, passengers gathered along the railings as word quickly spread throughout the ship that the Island had finally come into view. Some shielded their eyes from the bright afternoon sunlight while trying to make out details in the distance, while others immediately pulled out phones, professional cameras, and binoculars to capture their first glimpse of the destination. From this far away, it appeared less like an ordinary island and more like an enormous silhouette rising directly from the ocean, with its massive natural formations being the easiest features to recognize. Towering mountains, colossal cliffs, gigantic stone pillars, and enormous natural arches rose high above the distant coastline, some reaching such extraordinary heights that they remained clearly visible despite the many miles separating them from the Horizon. Between those formations were faint traces of civilization, with clusters of modern buildings appearing miniature from the ship's current position and occasional flashes of sunlight reflecting from distant glass skyscrapers, towers, and other structures hidden among the island's immense geography.

Parros was clearly no isolated tropical settlement. Even from the middle of the ocean, passengers could tell that an enormous modern city had been constructed throughout the island, with its developers apparently choosing to build around the natural environment rather than completely replacing it. The island's sheer scale made judging the remaining distance surprisingly difficult, as mountains that appeared relatively close were actually many miles away, their extraordinary height allowing them to dominate the horizon long before the ship reached the coastline. Yet the island wasn't the only thing attracting everyone's attention. A pod of Orcas had joined the ship during the final portion of its journey, and their unexpected presence had quickly become just as exciting to many passengers as seeing the island itself. The first few had appeared off the port side earlier, their tall black dorsal fins briefly breaking through the surface before disappearing beneath the waves. Initially, most passengers assumed the animals were simply investigating the unfamiliar vessel and would eventually move on, but instead more orcas appeared until several members of the pod were traveling alongside the ship. They seemed perfectly comfortable matching the ship's general direction while maintaining enough distance from the hull to move freely, occasionally disappearing completely beneath the surface only to reappear several moments later somewhere else around the vessel.

Their presence quickly transformed the exterior observation decks into some of the busiest areas aboard the Horizon. Children leaned excitedly against the railings as enormous black-and-white bodies emerged from beneath the water, while adults crowded around observation points with cameras raised in hopes of capturing the perfect photograph. Crew members repeatedly reminded passengers not to throw food, objects, or anything else into the ocean, although even some employees occasionally stopped working long enough to admire the animals themselves. One particularly large orca traveled near the starboard side, surfacing every few minutes before slipping beneath the water again, while two smaller members of the pod followed farther behind and occasionally crossed through the outer edges of the ship. Every so often, one of the orcas accelerated enough for its dark shape to become visible beneath the clear water before suddenly bursting through the surface. The resulting splash glittered beneath the afternoon sunlight before raining back into the ocean, usually accompanied by excited cheers from the passengers watching from above. Despite the animals' seemingly playful behavior, the crew continued maintaining a respectful approach, with the ship's navigation team carefully monitoring the pod's position and keeping the vessel at a predictable speed rather than making unnecessary changes in direction. There was something strangely peaceful about the entire scene: one of humanity's enormous technological creations traveling across the open ocean while some of the sea's most recognizable predators voluntarily swam beside it, all while the distant silhouette of Parros Island gradually grew larger ahead.

A short electronic chime suddenly sounded throughout the passenger areas of the ship, causing conversations across the observation decks, restaurants, pools, and lounges to gradually quiet as the public-address system activated. The captain's voice soon followed, calm and clear enough to be heard throughout nearly every public section of the Horizon.

Captain Shmee: “Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. This is your captain speaking. For those of you currently outside, and judging by the number of people I can see standing along our forward decks, that's quite a few of you. The landmass directly ahead is Parros Island. We are still several miles offshore, so despite how large the island may appear from your current position, we have not yet begun our docking approach. We will remain in open water for some time before entering Parros Harbor. Our destination is the eastern coast of the island, specifically the Parros Metropolitan Harbor District. Once we reach the designated approach corridor, harbor control will guide us toward the Horizon Terminal located outside central Parros City. The city you're beginning to see in the distance is the island's primary metropolitan region. Much of Parros was deliberately developed around its original geography, so you'll notice that many of the larger natural formations extend directly through and above portions of the city. The large formations visible behind the skyline are not artificial structures. Those cliffs, arches, mountains, and pillars are natural features of Parros Island. And yes, for those wondering, the visitors traveling alongside us are a naturally occurring pod of Killer Whales. They've been accompanying the Horizon for some time now. Our bridge team is monitoring their position, and there is currently no cause for concern. We ask that passengers enjoy the view from the ship and please refrain from throwing anything overboard. Wildlife activity is fairly common in the waters surrounding Parros, although having an entire pod escort us toward the island is certainly a memorable welcome. We will provide another announcement once we receive authorization to begin our formal approach into Parros Harbor. Until then, we remain in open ocean, so there is plenty of time to enjoy the view. On behalf of the entire crew of the Parros Horizon, welcome to the waters of Parros Island.”

The speakers clicked off, but the excitement throughout the ship remained. For now, however, Parros remained on the horizon, and the ship was still nowhere near the point where docking preparations needed to begin. The cruise ship wasn't surrounded by docks, tugboats, transportation vessels, or harbor patrol craft. Nobody was preparing gangways, luggage wasn't being unloaded, and passengers hadn't been instructed to gather near departure areas. Instead, the Parros ship continued cruising peacefully through open water, with miles of ocean still separating it from the Metropolitan Harbor District and the enormous city beyond it. Eventually, they finally got close enough to see their destination, but still far enough away that Parros remained something to anticipate rather than somewhere they had actually arrived. The enormous natural formations stood against the horizon, the distant city shimmered beneath the afternoon sun, and the Horizon continued gradually closing the distance without any urgency to reach the harbor. For the moment, there was nothing immediately surrounding them except the pod of orcas, and the vast open ocean stretching toward Parros Island.

Clementine.png
Clementine was about to throw more ammunition into the chamber when Gabriel laughed, but she hides it with her hand, telling Clementine that her teasing worked and drew more participants into the fold. Her brother then turned to her with a slow-blinking expression on his face that made her always think Minjae was Ultron from Marvel Comics. During his speech, he let her know that he was allowing her to reconsider the course of action she was taking, and that she was considering teasing him a bit more before attacking Benjamin, since knowing the oldest sibling has more dirt on her than Benjamin combined, it would be disastrous for her. "....Okay, in my defense, I didn't think you would care about what i say since most my teasing over the years has rarely gotten an reaction" she comments but realizes that it sounded worse than how she thought about that comment "...That sounded significantly better in my head" she says with a giggle.

Returning her attention to Gabriel and flash her a smile, "It'll be rare for Benjamin to travel anywhere without either me or Minjae tagging along," patting her little brother's shoulder with a casual ease. "No matter how annoyed he gets, williams stick to together," she says and goes to do the same towards Minjae until all three of them heard "Virgin." being dropped, which, unsurprisingly, made Benjamin snort while pretending to cough to cover the fact he found it amusing before making his comment about how he should've packed popcorn and watch them ruin each other before commenting how she aired their eldest brother's entire romantic history and call it a 'talent' which only made her face flush in between pride and embarrasment from Benjamin making the situation even worse while loving the compliment.

Despite their baby brother reacting with amusement, the eldest brother reacted differently, hearing him talk to her with a calmness that made the woman feel smaller and embarrassed for trying to tease him, shutting up and looking down, this feeling reminding her how quickly he would put Clementine in her place years ago, yet it's been a rare moment when it happens. Glancing at Gabriel under bangs that is covering her eyes, almost silently blames her for making everything worse than what she wanted yet still found it amusing to hear, although she never shows it so to not upset her brother even more "I'm sorry jae" she says low enough for only him to hear, a nickname she uses for the him since they were kids, a nickname she rarely uses unless she feeling bad about something she did and realizing what she did had the wrong reaction in mind "Boundary understood, no more exposing your private life to new people you just met" she says before recovering with a cough to hide that vulnerable side of herself. Looking at Trinity then Minjae, she goes for an olive branch: "But since we're talking interests, why not just go for it?" she nudges him, even though damage was done; she was not stopping "You were actually having a fun before i came along and she seems to like talking to you. So stop overthinking and worrying about my nonsense; ask for her number" she then gives Gabriel a wink, being the matchmaker that sees opportunity before her, tend to take it and do everything in her power to make it happen. Hearing Benjamin say she owes him and not forgetting how she exposed his love life, she merely leans closer to him and gives him her famous Joker smile. "You know me, anything is fair game," she jokes

swim moose.pngAda had been busting her entire ass for this damn cruise. It had taken more than a few sleezy deals with a couple of over enthusiastic weirdos a couple of way too chipper interviews, and more than a little bit of ass kissing. She had the job though. The pay was shit the hours were shit and she was singing shitty ass songs during dinner to entertain a bunch of rich ass holes but hey she was getting to enjoy the best damn view she ever thought she had seen and there was no way in hell she would have been able to afford a ticket onto this thing as anything other than a worker.

It was almost a shame that she had wasted so much of the trip below the deck having to help move the heavy equipment for the live dinner entertainment and even when she wasn't performing she had been recruited by others to help them with their own set up and break down because she simply had a hard time telling anyone no though they never seemed to have much of a problem telling her that damn word.

Finally, though there were no expectations of her she could actually enjoy her time off for the first time since she boarded this damn ship and it was supposed to last at least until they docked. For the moment she got to blend herself in with all the other rich ass holes and enjoy the scenery like an actual person and not some kind of boat servant.

The sound of the captain on the overhead speakers had her eyes already scoping out the best place for her to get a decent view with as few people as possible and that meant on one of the observation decks. Perhaps if she was quiet enough the people up there wouldn't even notice her presence there and the sound of music that was coming from the place proved to her that her inkling might just be correct. It also gave her the added bonus of enjoying a lively place rather than the deathly silence that much of the lower decks had been each time she had to work.

She didn't bother the others that were there as they seemed to tease play and flirt with one another. She didn't want to seem like she was some stranger in their business which she kind of was just by overhearing the playful jests and the stern reprimand one gave to one of the girls. It all made her wish that she actually knew some people in this damn place instead she just took out her phone and took few short videos to post on her accounts. She didn't use it as much as she used to but every now and then she would post something and her fallowing was enough to get her at least a little bit of change in her pockets.

Still, this moment with the distant island coming into view and that sound of the orca splashing in the waters down below she knew this wasn't nearly the worst place she had been even if for the moment she was facing it on her own. Hell this was at least in her top five favorite views so that had to count for something.

Trinity stayed sunk in the heat a moment longer, bubbles breaking against the thin one piece she had on and running down the heavy swell of her chest. She didn’t touch the lying debate. She let that one comment die where it started. She was contemplating getting out despite just arriving because now she felt a wave of fatigue and could use a nap. Not from anything the group did but her own personal spike of laziness.

When Trinity spoke, it was blunt and unhurried, that Australian drawl touching every word. She was speaking while she was moving to get out of the water.

“Just so we’re clear, I’m not tossin’ out random shit for a laugh. I sleep with him. A lot. When you’re the one gettin’ fucked by the man, you’ve got every right to say what you bloody well please about it. I ain’t givin’ away things I don’t have a claim to.”

She looked at Gabby, then Minjae, then the rest of them like it was ordinary to again say something so blunt and bold.

“I’m gonna go get some rest in the suite before we hit the island. You lot can come find me if you need anything. We got big things ahead of us this year.”

Given Trinity’s history with Mystvale, she wanted to preserve her energy and get as much rest in as possible before the intensity of the island. That said she pushed up out of the tub after that, water sheeting off her tits, stomach, and thighs in a slow run that left the bikini clinging wet to every curve. She didn’t hurry and she didn’t look pissed. She stepped out onto the deck, droplets hitting the wood around her feet, and reached for discarded pieces of her clothing.((changed her design so whatever would make sense for her to take off now.)) Trinity walked toward the suites without looking back for a reaction, her walk accompanied by an unapologetic hip swing, wet hair hanging down her back, leaving the hot tub and the conversation behind now that she was done with her part of it.

Minjae had spent the better part of the conversation being someonewhat patient with only a short warning. He remained relaxed against the couch as Benjamin’s congressional-hearing comparison finally pulled a low laugh from him, his eyes sliding lazily toward his younger brother then towards his sister as her apology softened him a bit, especially when that quiet little “Jae” reached his ears, because Minjae knew precisely what it meant coming from her. His eyes rested upon her for another moment before he leaned over and gently tapped two fingers against her forehead. His voice became sweeter as a smile slowly appeared. Then she suggested he ask Gabriela for her number, and Minjae stared at her for several seconds before slowly turning his gaze toward Trinity. Then back to Clementine.

Minjae to Clem: Listen Clem. I adore your spirit, but I promise you I don’t require a booking agent.
Minjae to Gabriela: You know. You’re gorgeous, entertaining, and considerably more pleasant company than the fuckers I unfortunately share DNA with. But if you're down, Trinity and I may be looking for another person. You're definitely someone we'd be interested in.

But Trinity was the one who finally stole Minjae’s attention completely. Her blunt declaration regarding exactly why she felt entitled to comment on their relationship made his eyebrows rise slightly, but there wasn’t a trace of embarrassment on his face. Instead, his mouth slowly curled upward as he watched her climb from the hot tub and gather her discarded clothing, apparently entirely unconcerned with the verbal grenade she had casually thrown into the conversation. Then Minjae stood up himself, adjusted his clothes, slipped his phone into his pocket, and watched Trinity once more as she walked away. He began walking away before Clementine’s matchmaking attempt apparently returned to his thoughts, causing him to stop and glance backward.

Minjae to Clem: “Oh, and Clem? Since you’re so passionately invested in everyone’s romantic affairs, perhabs Benjamin should become your next project.
Minjae to Gabriela: Oh yea, Gabby. Feel free to join us or help my sister out with my brother. The room number is suit 55.

By the time Minjae reached the corridor leading toward the suites, he spotted Trinity farther ahead and increased his pace until he came alongside her, his expression softening into something warmer despite the amusement he still had. Nonetheless, he cupped her ass as they continued walking side by side until they finally reached the suite he bought for them.

By the time the Parros Horizon reached the outer boundaries of the Metropolitan Harbor District, the distant silhouette that passengers had spent so long staring at had transformed into something enormous enough to consume nearly the entire horizon. Parros Island no longer appeared like some unreachable mass of mountains sitting against the edge of the world; its coastline now stretched outward in both directions, with gigantic cliffs, natural stone pillars, and portions of the metropolitan skyline becoming individually distinguishable beneath the afternoon sun. Buildings that had previously resembled tiny silver specks now revealed themselves as towers and skyscrapers, some constructed between enormous rock formations while others climbed along elevated sections of the island. Ahead, the Horizon Terminal could finally be seen extending from the eastern harbor district, its massive docking structures clearly designed to accommodate vessels as enormous as the cruise ship approaching it. Smaller boats traveled throughout the surrounding waters, while harbor patrol vessels maintained the cleared approach corridor leading toward the terminal. After hours of seemingly endless ocean, there was finally no mistaking it anymore. They were arriving.

The Horizon had already reduced its speed considerably, its tremendous engines no longer pushing the vessel through the water with the same relaxed cruising momentum from earlier. The broad wake behind it had narrowed, and subtle changes in direction gradually aligned the ship with the designated harbor approach corridor. Crew members had begun appearing more frequently along restricted sections of the exterior decks, while navigation personnel on the bridge communicated continuously with Parros Harbor Control. The docking station itself remained some distance ahead, but it was close enough now for passengers to see individual terminal structures, elevated walkways, loading areas, and the enormous reinforced berths awaiting incoming ships. Even the atmosphere aboard the Horizon had changed as people abandoned restaurants, lounges, and private balconies to crowd the observation decks one final time. Phones rose over heads, children pointed excitedly toward the island, and conversations increasingly shifted from what they might find on Parros to what they intended to do the moment their feet touched land.

The pod of orcas remained alongside them throughout most of that approach. Their behavior had become so familiar over the last several hours that passengers barely reacted with the same astonishment whenever another black dorsal fin broke through the water. Several traveled near the starboard side while others periodically crossed farther behind the stern, apparently content to follow the Horizon toward the island before eventually continuing wherever their natural route took them. Then, almost simultaneously, something changed. The largest orca surfaced beside the ship, released a sharp breath through its blowhole, and disappeared beneath the water, but rather than emerging again beside the Horizon, its dark silhouette abruptly turned away. Seconds later another followed. Then another. Within less than a minute, nearly the entire pod had abandoned the ship and begun swimming rapidly away from the harbor approach.

At first, passengers simply assumed their unexpected escorts had finally decided they had followed the Horizon far enough. A few people waved toward the retreating dorsal fins, laughing as though saying goodbye to animals that had accompanied them through the final portion of their journey. Yet those watching carefully noticed something unusual about the departure. The orcas weren't lazily separating from the ship or gradually changing course. They were moving with purpose, spreading farther from the Horizon while accelerating toward deeper water on an entirely different heading. Even the younger members remained close to the adults rather than lingering behind. Within moments, the pod that had spent so much time fearlessly swimming beside a vessel thousands of times heavier than themselves had put an increasingly large stretch of ocean between themselves and the cruise ship. Then the water behind the Horizon began to rise.

There was no explosion, violent attack, or immediate breach. Instead, an enormous section of ocean simply swelled upward as though something beneath the surface was displacing an impossible amount of water. The smooth blue surface stretched into a broad mound before sheets of seawater began rolling away from something dark emerging underneath it. Passengers nearest the stern initially mistook what they were seeing for a submerged reef or enormous rock formation, until the shape continued rising. Water poured from its surface in countless streams, each one looking insignificant against the sheer amount of mass appearing from below. Whatever had surfaced never revealed its head completely, nor enough of its body for anyone aboard to identify what species, or even what type of creature, they were looking at. It simply rose high enough for some enormous portion of its upper body to break the surface. That portion alone was almost the size of the Parros Horizon.

For several seconds, the observation decks went strangely quiet. Cameras remained raised, but the excited shouting surrounding the island and the orcas faded into stunned murmuring as passengers attempted to understand the scale of what they were seeing. The Horizon was a colossal 1788587298776.pngluxury vessel capable of carrying thousands of people, yet the exposed section of the creature made the ship itself suddenly seem disturbingly ordinary. Nobody could determine how much more remained beneath the ocean. Perhaps what they were seeing represented most of the animal, or perhaps it was only a fraction of something substantially larger hidden in the depths below. Then came the sound, a tremendous exhalation as the creature surfaced for air, deep enough to carry across the water and reach the outer decks of the cruise ship. Whatever the animal was, it hadn't surfaced to approach them at all. It had simply come up to breathe.

Almost immediately afterward, the massive shape began descending again. Ocean water folded over its exposed body as it sank, producing enormous rolling waves that expanded outward from the location where it had surfaced. The creature made no attempt to pursue the fleeing orcas, no movement toward the Horizon, and showed no apparent interest in the thousands of people staring at it. Within moments, the last visible portion disappeared beneath the surface, leaving behind turbulent water and an enormous circular disturbance slowly spreading across the sea. Farther away, the orcas continued swimming in the opposite direction without returning. Whatever understanding those animals possessed of the waters surrounding Parros, they had apparently decided sharing them with that particular creature wasn't worth the risk.

An electronic chime suddenly sounded throughout the Horizon, pulling attention away from the disturbed water as Captain Shmee's voice returned over the public-address system.

Captain Shmee: Good afternoon once again, ladies and gentlemen. Captain Shmee speaking. As most of you can undoubtedly see, we are now entering the final approach corridor for the Parros Metropolitan Harbor District. Harbor Control has cleared the Horizon to continue toward our assigned berth at Horizon Terminal, and we expect to begin final docking procedures shortly. Please be aware that our speed will continue decreasing as harbor personnel assume greater control over our approach. Passengers are welcome to continue observing our arrival from authorized areas, although we ask that everyone remain clear of restricted crew sections while docking operations are underway.

There was a noticeable pause before Shmee continued, and practically everyone standing near the water already knew exactly what subject was coming next.

Captain Shmee: And yes. The bridge saw it too. For those passengers currently contacting crew members to ask what exactly surfaced behind us, I unfortunately do not have an identification to provide you. The animal appears to have surfaced solely to breathe before returning underwater, and at this time it has shown no indication of approaching or following the Horizon. Harbor Control has been notified of the sighting, and our navigation team will continue monitoring the surrounding water throughout our approach. I understand its size may have been somewhat... surprising. Nevertheless, I strongly encourage everyone to remain calm, stay within designated passenger areas, and allow our crew to concentrate on bringing the vessel safely into port. Our unexpected escort of killer whales appears to have parted ways with us as well, so it seems this is where our wildlife tour concludes. Ahead of you is Horizon Terminal and, beyond it, Parros City. We will shortly begin maneuvering alongside the docking station, after which our crew will secure the vessel and prepare the gangways. Please do not proceed toward departure areas until instructed, as passengers will not be permitted to disembark until docking procedures and port clearance are complete. Until then, enjoy the final 30 minutes to an hour until your arrival, and perhaps keep the cameras pointed toward the island rather than wondering what else may be underneath us. On behalf of myself and the entire crew, welcome to Parros Island.

The speakers clicked off, leaving passengers caught somewhere between excitement and unease as the Horizon continued steadily toward the terminal. Ahead, the docking station grew larger with every passing minute, harbor vessels moving into position while the sprawling city of Parros towered beyond it between colossal natural formations. Behind them, however, the ocean had already begun settling again. The enormous disturbance gradually disappeared, leaving almost no evidence that something comparable in size to their cruise ship had surfaced there moments earlier. Even the orcas were becoming little more than distant black fins heading away across the water. The Horizon continued forward regardless, slowly surrendering the open ocean for the protected waters of the harbor as its towering hull aligned with the docking station ahead. Whatever had surfaced behind them had taken its breath and returned to the depths, and for now, that was apparently where it intended to remain.

Jaden King had claimed the highest accessible section of the Parros Horizon almost immediately after boarding, partly because it gave Recon Division the clearest view of the surrounding ocean and partly because he liked being somewhere most passengers never bothered reaching. The wind was stronger this high above the water, carrying salt spray across the railings while the cruise ship pushed steadily back towards Parros Island. Below him, several decks remained packed with civilians enjoying the adventure, their voices blending with music, laughter, and the constant low vibration of the ship's engines. Jaden leaned casually against the railing with one arm stretched along the metal, appearing far more relaxed than someone conducting a covert Noktis surveillance operation had any right to be. A few Recon Division operatives were scattered nearby, deliberately dressed like ordinary passengers while keeping cameras, compact optics, and encrypted communication equipment hidden beneath their jackets and travel bags. Their objective was simple enough on paper: determine whether any aquatic Kryptid species native to Parros were capable of traveling far enough beyond the island to threaten other regions. Jaden understood exactly what that would mean if they found one, because an ocean-dwelling Kryptid capable of crossing shipping routes could reach populated coastlines long before anyone realized what was happening. Even so, he had spent most of the trip joking with his subordinates, insulting their disguises, and pretending the mission was beneath him whenever civilians happened to wander nearby.

The orcas swimming beside the Horizon had initially been nothing more than scenery to him, especially when passengers began crowding the observation decks to photograph them. Jaden had watched the pod with mild interest, mostly because their complete lack of fear around a ship that large was unusual enough to be worth noting. Several adults moved close to the hull while younger members followed between them, surfacing beside the vessel before disappearing beneath its wake. Then, without any obvious provocation, their behavior changed. Jaden noticed it before the younger Recon operative beside him did, his eyes narrowing slightly as one adult turned sharply away from the ship and the rest of the pod followed. There was no lazy separation, no gradual drifting toward another feeding area, and no hesitation from the juveniles. Every member accelerated almost simultaneously, spreading outward while moving toward deeper water on a completely different heading. Jaden's amused expression remained in place, but the way he pushed himself slightly straighter from the railing immediately told his subordinates that something had caught his attention.

Jaden: Watch the whales.

One Recon operative raised a disguised long-range optic while another shifted closer to the railing, careful not to make the movement look urgent.

Kaisen (younger operative): Do you think the animals were simply scared of following the ship.
Jaden: If they were scared of the Horizon, they probably would've remembered that fact before spending the last twenty minutes swimming directly beside it.

He then pointed out how tightly the younger orcas were remaining beside the adults, something that looked much less like wandering and much more like a retreat. Even while speaking, Jaden kept his voice light because he could already see nearby passengers looking toward the fleeing pod with confused curiosity. The last thing he wanted was one of his own people standing around with a terrified expression and accidentally convincing three thousand vacationers that something was wrong.

Jaden: Try looking less like you just saw the end of the world.

Then the ocean behind the Horizon began to rise, and Jaden's smile disappeared almost immediately. At first it resembled an unusually broad swell, except the water wasn't traveling naturally with the surrounding waves; instead, an enormous section of the surface simply pushed upward from beneath. The ship's wake distorted around the growing mound as sheets of blue water stretched over something massive and dark below it. Several passengers on the stern decks noticed the disturbance and began raising phones, some excitedly shouting about a whale or submerged reef. Jaden said nothing while the shape continued emerging, because every comparison his mind produced stopped making sense the longer he watched it rise. Water poured away from its exposed surface in countless streams, each one appearing tiny against the sheer amount of mass beneath them. Whatever they were looking at did not reveal a clear head, limbs, or recognizable anatomy, only some enormous portion of a body breaking through the ocean. When Jaden realized that the exposed section alone was nearly comparable in size to the Parros Horizon, he became completely still.

For several seconds, even Jaden didn't have a sarcastic comment prepared, which was enough to make the Recon operatives around him understand how serious the situation had become. The enormous shape remained at the surface while water thundered down its sides, and from their angle nobody could determine. Jaden's eyes shifted from the creature to the civilians, instantly measuring their reactions and identifying the exact moment curiosity could potentially become panic.

Jaden: Get me Jiwoo on the phone, now.
Noktis Subordinate: yessir!

When the operative asked whether he wanted a secure channel, Jaden stared at him for a beat before nodding his head yes. The operative's expression tightened then called her on a secure channel with their communication devices. Jiwoo Parks answered moments later, and the instant Jaden heard her voice his tone shifted from obnoxiously casual to noticeably more focused.

Jaden: We've got a possible aquatic Kryptid sighting. Only a portion of the body was actually visible, and it was nearly the size of the cruise ship itself.
Jiwoo: What's an estimate of the creature's full size.
Jaden: Honestly, there is no reliable way to determine how much of its body had remained submerged. Which, is currently my least favorite part of this entire encounter.
1789028554093.png
He continued the report by describing the creature's behavior in precise terms, emphasizing that there had been no apparent pursuit, attack posture, or interest in the ship. It had surfaced, taken a tremendous breath, and descended again almost immediately, which suggested that the encounter may have been entirely incidental from the Kryptid's perspective. Jaden then explained the orcas' reaction, detailing how the entire pod had accelerated away before the surfacing and how the adults had kept the juveniles tightly protected while retreating toward deeper water. At his signal, Recon personnel began transmitting recordings, coordinates, environmental conditions, and every usable visual they had captured to Jiwoo. Jaden's voice became more serious when he reached the part that mattered most to the mission. They were already far enough from Parros Island that he could no longer comfortably assume this creature, or potentially its species, remained isolated within the island's surrounding waters. If it could travel through deep ocean lanes unnoticed, then coastal regions far beyond Parros could eventually fall within its range.

Jaden: I want shipping routes, sonar irregularities, unexplained vessel disappearances, and every report people laughed off because it sounded impossible cross-checked against this location. We're keeping it quiet. No public Noktis announcement, no uniforms, no evacuations unless it changes course and gives us an actual reason.

After the secure call ended, Jaden returned the communication unit and immediately began assigning tasks throughout Recon Division. One operative was ordered to compare their position against known ocean trenches and deepwater routes, another to search existing Noktis archives for similarly sized aquatic organisms, and a third to continue tracking the fleeing orca pod for any unusual change in direction. Jaden wanted historical ship disappearances, damaged fishing vessels, unusual sonar readings, unexplained coastal carcasses, and even local sailor stories that conventional researchers had dismissed. When someone questioned the usefulness of unreliable eyewitness reports, Jaden reminded them that civilians had an impressive habit of seeing something completely impossible and then inventing increasingly stupid explanations to convince themselves it was normal. Despite the joke, nobody misunderstood his urgency. The mission had started as reconnaissance meant to determine whether water Kryptids might occasionally wander beyond Parros, but they had potentially just witnessed something capable of crossing an entire ocean without being challenged by anything around it. Worse, the creature had shown no interest in them at all, meaning its proximity to the ship might not have represented the limits of its territory or confidence. Jaden hated unknown variables almost as much as he hated being outplayed, and the ocean had just handed him one large enough to make a cruise liner look small.

Eventually, the upper deck returned to something resembling normal, with Jaden once again leaning against the railing while his subordinates worked around him. From below, laughter slowly returned, music continued playing, and passengers resumed treating the voyage like a vacation rather than the site of a potentially historic Kryptid encounter. Jaden maintained his usual relaxed posture because he understood how easily nervous behavior spread, especially when people were already searching nearby faces for confirmation that they should be afraid. His eyes, however, never stopped scanning the water. The creature had been large enough to frighten away an entire pod of orcas before humans even realized it was present, yet it had surfaced beside thousands of potential targets without showing the slightest aggression. That contradiction interested him far more than simple hostility would have, because a predator could be predicted while something that powerful and completely indifferent was harder to understand. Jaden slowly drummed his fingers against the railing, already imagining how many reports, archive entries, and arguments with Jiwoo were going to follow this encounter.

Jaden: You couldn't just be some ugly fish the size of a car could you? Of course not, you just had to be something interesting.

Clementine blinks at her brother's action, tapping her forehead with two fingers, which is something she has seen him do to her from when they were kids to now, a form of affection she shows annoyance at, but deep down, she treasures; close to her heart. When she mentioned helping him get Gabriela's number, she saw the look he gave her and felt the urge to laugh, but she restrained herself when he responded that he didn't need her to be his booking agent. She hopped over the couch and sat between them with a new smile on her face, watching her siblings and new friends converse with one another, but noticed another woman who looked exactly like Gabriela, leaning over the railing with a Coca-Cola in one hand. Her attention was snatched away from the other twin when Minjae got up and followed after Trinity, who had just left the hot tub, hearing him mention how passionate she is about everyone's romantic affairs, and that they should invest in their little brother's love life "You bet! he will get the best advice and tips for getting a woman." She gave Minjae a thumbs up before snapping her head towards Benjamin with a devious smirk on her face, leaning back and cracking her knuckles before she went on with her infamous love advice "Okay, Benjamin, I know you don't wanna hear it, but the key in getting a woman is being confident, have swagger, how you talk to a woman is important too, but always wear clothes that will make you look good and make women see you can dress properly," she says, then looks at Gabriela, tilts her head to the side, and smiles at her "And you, beautiful, if you like my brother Minjae, you should go for it and join him, he's a good catch." she says before noticing people were gathering at the railing with their phones raised and pointing torwards something. Walking over to where everyone is gathered, she looks beyond to see something massive surfacing while the ocean separated and spilled outwards "What the hell is that?" she says with pure awe in her voice and disbelief at this "things" mere existence, defying the very logic of nature Clementine has believed in since she learned about the physics of the Square-Cube Law; something this massive should be incapable of moving through the water like that, nor would they be able to surface at all due to the immense kinetic force required to propel and move around would apply too much pressure for the skeletal structure to handle but seeing this creature appear before her and everyone on the ship proves everything she knows to be questioned.

The creature descended back into the sea, watching the ocean fold over it and return to normal. Then the captain spoke through the intercom from the command deck, letting them know that they were entering the final approach to Parros Metropolitan Harbor, making Clementine feel more ready to get off the ship. Still, she felt a hunger stir within her, not the usual hunger for food but a carnal hunger she hadn't satisfied since last year. Her wandering thoughts and hunger for the captain kept her oblivious to the rest of what was said as she headed towards where Captain Shmee was, but when the girl that look like Gabriela appeared before her, near the stairs with the same Coca-Cola in hand, both women noticed each other immediately. Without wasting time, she walked over to the Gabriela look-alike to introduce herself "I don't know if I'm going crazy or not, but I chatted with someone who looks exactly like you." she said, then leaned against the wall across from the other girl, who arched a brow and took a slow sip from her Coca-Cola while giving Clementine an emotionless look that lasted a good two minutes before she cracked a smile "You must mean my twin sister, Gabriela" she says then walks closer to Clementine who can smell perfume from the twin's body "I am Garciela Mendez, pleasure to meet you" offering a hand which Clementine accepted "I am Clementine Williams, pleasure to meet you Garciela" she says, not knowing that their interaction will lead them towards unexpected roads.

Benjamin watched Clementine hop over the back of the couch and drop right between him and the empty space Minjae had left behind. The second she cracked her knuckles and launched into the “how to get a woman” speech, his face said everything. By the time she hit swagger and proper clothes, he was leaned back with one arm along the cushions, staring at her like she had just volunteered for a job no one posted.

“Clem,” he said, slow and flat, “I need you to understand the level of delusion you’re currently operating on. You just got the full Minjae freeze-out for putting his private life on speaker for people he met less than an hour ago. Trinity stood up, announced she sleeps with him regularly like she was reading off a menu, and walked away without looking back. Minjae then invited Gabriela to their suite like he was handing out free samples, told you to make me your next project, and left with his hand on her ass like this entire conversation had been background noise. And your first instinct is to sit down and start coaching me on confidence and wardrobe?” He shook his head. “That is not resilience. That is a complete system crash with a smile still attached.”

He pointed at her. “And the advice itself? ‘Be confident. Have swagger. Wear clothes that make you look good.’ I’m in a hoodie on a cruise ship because I like existing without performing. You’re out here delivering a full seminar on male presentation while still recovering from getting verbally grounded by the oldest sibling. The self-awareness did not just leave. It packed a bag, booked a flight, and is currently living under a new name.”

He glanced at Gabriela, still half-laughing. “And the part where you told Gabby to go for it and join him? Outstanding. You watched the man casually open applications for a third person in whatever arrangement he and Trinity have, and your contribution was to become the official Williams family recruiter. At this point I’m convinced you have a clipboard, a ranking system, and a spreadsheet none of us are allowed to see. You’re not a sister right now. You’re an unpaid talent scout with zero boundaries and excellent timing if the goal is chaos.”

The energy on the deck shifted hard before he could keep going. Voices dropped. Phones went up. People crowded the railing. Benjamin stood and moved closer without thinking, eyes locked on the water behind the ship. The surface was swelling in a way that didn’t look right—too wide, too smooth, like something massive was pushing up from underneath. Then it broke through.

He stopped breathing for a second.

The thing that came up wasn’t a full body. No clear head, no fins, nothing recognizable. Just a massive dark shape rising out of the ocean, water pouring off it in sheets, the exposed section already looking close to the size of the entire Horizon. Benjamin’s hands settled on the railing. He stared while the deep exhale rolled across the water and the creature slowly sank again like it had never been there. The orcas were already gone.

“Okay,” he said under his breath. “That was not a whale. That was not anything that belongs in a textbook. That was the ocean reminding everyone that our family drama is not the main event.”

The captain’s voice came over the speakers a moment later, confirming the approach into the harbor and admitting the bridge had no idea what it was either. Benjamin let out a short breath and looked back at Clementine and Gabriela.

“So let’s recap the last few minutes for anyone who blinked,” he said, the grin returning even as his eyes kept flicking toward the water. “Minjae and Trinity left for suite 55 after Trinity casually updated the entire deck on their relationship status. You recovered from getting shut down by immediately appointing yourself my personal dating coach and Gabriela’s official hype woman. And then something roughly the size of this ship decided to surface, take one breath, and leave like we weren’t even interesting enough to investigate.” He shook his head. “I came up here for orcas and a quiet view. That was the entire request. Instead I got a full sibling intervention, an open suite invitation I was not invited to, and the sudden knowledge that Parros has things living under the water that make killer whales file an evacuation notice.”

He leaned his forearms on the railing, watching the harbor structures grow clearer. The mountains and towers of Parros were sharp now. The terminal was close. The water behind them looked almost peaceful again, which somehow made it worse.

“I’m not even mad,” he added. “I’m just impressed at the range. In under fifteen minutes we’ve covered public relationship announcements, unsolicited dating seminars from someone who just got put on probation, suite invitations, and a near-biblical sea creature sighting. That’s not a cruise. That’s a season finale with bonus content and a post-credits scene.” He glanced at Clementine, the teasing light sharp. “You’re still not off the hook. Receipts are being kept, organized, and color-coded. But right now…” He looked out at the approaching city. “Right now I want to know what else is down there. Because if that’s what shows up before we even dock, Parros is about to make our family chaos look like the opening act nobody remembers.”

He stayed at the railing a little longer, the sea breeze tugging at his hoodie, that restless curiosity already settling in his chest the way it always did when something didn’t make sense. The family circus could wait. The island was right in front of them, and whatever had just taken a breath behind the ship was still somewhere under the water.

file_00000000a6bc81fd8fd430e616af3439.pngThe truth was that she was quite enjoying the spectacle that was the family drama playing out as background noise to her view. It was like dinner and a show... or rather a show and a show. One that she herself didn't have to perform at, that only made it all the better for her. Now if only she had a bucket of popcorn and a better seat then the rail this would really make this one of the best times she had in a while.

That was when she saw it, that dark shape as the whales flee for their lives spooked like startled as if they were nothing more than minnows. Killer whales... were scared. That was not a good sign in the slightest. That meant whatever was surfacing with its thick hide and prehistoric monster like size was likely some kind of predator and it made something deep inside of her give an almost painful flip like she was going to vomit across the deck.

She didn't.

Luckily, she was able to keep the breakfast buffet down for now even as her fight of flight response told her that making herself look less like an appetizing meal was a good idea. The creature took a deep breath and then sank again, and it allowed her to slowly sink herself down onto her elbows again her eyes tracking the creature as long as she could. Even when it was gone, she kept searching the white foam even as the captain's voice came over the speaker system.

She had met the captain a few times on the ship. Working for the place came at least with that perk and she knew his natural tone. It was mostly due to the fact that she had found herself so enamored by him in the times she had met him that she couldn't help herself to listen intently to each word, not a full-blown attraction necessarily, she didn't know him well enough for that, but more like the way you might feel when meeting a kind of celebrity. He was something more than she was used to a person who was important and yes, handsome enough, you naturally wanted to lean in and listen to his every word. It was because of this she could tell that had to be his tone for doing damage control. He was trying to keep mass panic from spreading over the ship. When she glanced up at those that had come to the railing near her, it seemed like it was working well enough and she schooled her features into as neutral an expression as she could manage.

Land was getting closer; she told herself glancing towards the island her eyes glancing back involuntarily to the now much smaller group speaking to one another. The boy's break down of what was going on giving her a bit of a shock after all she had mostly missed the eldest brother's exit because she had kept her eyes on the ocean, but it sounded like it had been more then she likely would have wanted to see anyway considering she had heard the way he had offered up someone to be a third in his bed. To each their own, she really didn't care what other people did in the privacy of their own cabin but geez saying that sort of thing in front of your sibling sounded crazy to her. Then again, she wasn't exactly close with her own sibling hell she had never even met her half-brother and he had been way too young to talk about stuff like that to anyway.

"in under fifteen minutes-" the guy had commented on but that part really struck her. A lot could happen in under fifteen minutes as this little show had shown them all. Her hand reached up to tug at the amber pendant that dangled between her breasts and let the chain twine over her finger. Everything can change in that short of time.

"Don't think down there is what we need to worry about," She was mostly mumbling to herself, but she was close enough to Benjamen that he could likely overhear the words, and her eyes were fully focused on the approaching spires and buildings of the shore. Maybe it was just the tension that was still lingering from the strange creature getting to her but there was something in the pit of her stomach telling her that something was off. Something that kept her on edge the closer to the shore they were getting.

During this entire ordeal, Sindel had been vlogging the entire trip so far at different points, one of the things she had caught was the large creature that surfaced for a moment before returning back to the depths of the ocean. Now, she was in her room making edits to the video and of course she was listening to one of the more popular songs by her dear friend. Minjae. While there were some people in her chat who had never heard of him, she got him a lot more recognition during her live vlog which earned him over a million streams in the span of an hour due to that one song. Even now, she was listening to the song in private while she was making edits to the video and singing along.

Sɪɴᴅᴇʟ:🎵Pick A Side, Bitch! You can't love me from the fence. Can't deny me to your friends, then come claiming me and shit. Said you didn't want a man so why you mad I moved along? Now you blowing up my phone because you see I'm moving on! Pick A Side, Bitch! I ain't waiting at your door. You wanted all the benefits but you couldn't give me more. Pick A Side, Bitch! I ain't stressing you nomore. You aint lose me to another, bitch, you chose to go explore.🎵

She especially loved this song since she knew exactly who it was about, and that same girl was on the cruise with them. She caught the girl staring at him on many occasions and was sad whenever another woman approached him which she found hilarious. It was honestly sad since it was her own fault, yet tries to blame him and everyone else for her choice. Speaking of which, she paused a part of the video and zoomed in and seen the same girl isolated by herself staring in Minjae's direction yet another time. Sindel rolled her eyes then saved her progress and closed the laptop. Right after, she stood up and stretched then made her way out the door of one of the cruise ships 2nd floor suites. Eventually, she'd come across the others and for a split second she got disctracted by a certain red head who she bumped into by accident in the middle of walking.

Sɪɴᴅᴇʟ: Oh fuck, sorry, love. I didn't mean to pump into you, 'scuse me.
