Personality:
Arisaka is somewhat of a holy person, with few attachments to the worldly and a higher-than life way of conduct. Simultaneously, Arisaka is, contradictorily, far removed from this holiness- he is deeply human in his empathy and in his drive, in his dreams and in his fears. He is a person composed of these oxymoron's at his heart- forming an ardent whole, that burns with the fire of passion and shines with the light of morality, acting as an agent for a change and for a hope in the midst of a callous life.
His upbringing in the Noren family is the one to blame for his feverous Shinto belief and asceticism- all skill in his Ki that he has can be attributed to his initial induction into heroics by his religion and family, alongside the formation of his character as a collectivist at heart, looking out for the greater whole above all else. Albeit, this is only a small fragment of his whole- one side of the dichotomy. His fathers actions and low potential, led the Noren to outcast him. This fact sent him through socialization- and, most of all, discrimination and a harsh living- outside his bubble, earning him his earnestness, humbleness, resilience and callous pragmatism through a less religious and more objective lens in his life, the experience that gathered and culminated into his growing as a person with cultivated knowledge of many different subjects. It is the culprit behind his curiosity and keen interest in the world outside his religious duty, the aims and targets by which he has defined a much better and more relevant life goal. It is, too, the source of his largest flaws and shortcomings as a person.
The enmities of the world towards Arisaka, especially in the sphere of his family, when combined with his late father’s haunting advice made him an uniquely pragmatic and practical character. He is focused on the recognition and realization of goals, and the following of his personal, collectivist and ethical set of morals, over the loyalty he may have otherwise been inclined to default to towards his family, society, or even his religious doctrine. This isn’t to say his goals, in of themselves, are practical and realistic. Much the contrary- he is someone who aspires for ambitions greater than achievable. In this instance, he can be thought of as someone that affirms life through action towards hope, rounding up to a deeply irrational romanticness at heart; his spirit upheaves and uplifts the norms that he was faced against in his childhood, hoisting the mantle of kindness he inherited from his father and taking action against that which is harmful to the world and himself to develop into his own person independent of the ideals predisposed to him by society and his family. All the while, Arisaka continues to somehow operate under their strict judgment, chasing after what he developed as his own code of conduct. This was- and is- no easy task to perform, held at a very tenuous and friable balance.
He doesn’t resent his family for the bitterness that they have treated him with, albeit, to say he is completely detached from the suffering they caused him would be far off the mark. One may not resent, but that does not mean he has forgiven, nor forgotten. It instilled into him an irrational fear of inaction, sense of betrayal, and above all else, a sudden and unorthodox ‘torment’. If these traits hadn’t already been instilled into him by the dependence he had grown to have with his father, they were absolutely stuck to his soul the moment his family vehemently denied any support to him. His dislocation, the abandonment he faced from his own family, the thing he had valued by far the most in his life up until that point, for something he was incapable of controlling, left Arisaka’s necessity for basic love and compassion unfulfilled. With his intrinsically ascetic nature, lashing out or indulging in the material to make up for this did not make sense; finding meaning, love, or validation in wealth, power, adrenaline or drugs did not appeal to him. It seemed only superficial, ephemerous, a very temporary lapse of happiness that didn’t address the deeply rooted issue. Instead of resorting to feeble escapisms, Arisaka began to dream through others. Not to escape through these dreams- but to create a foundation of hope for himself. He realised, at some point, that it was his responsibility, and it was only his task to do, to find his own peace in the world. And it is within the cycle of dream and positive action towards himself and those around him that Arisaka finds his meaning- in this simple connection between opposite states, in the rotation of antithetical motions of ‘hope’ and ‘frustration’. Seeing hope for the improvement and betterment of things for himself and others was the only acceptable outlet- or, perhaps, the one which he was always destined to find, the one meant for him- for him to discharge this pent up necessity and hunger. It was a dream and idealism. And it was, too, his biggest ‘torment’- a romantic’s sweet prose, with an aficionados’ unrelenting draw to action. It is, in a way, somewhat self-punitive. The guilt, most overwhelming, and the judgement, so constant, of his father has led Arisaka into this careful yet somewhat friable arrangement of a personality and whole.
It was, amidst this torment and dream, that he began to develop his own sense of morality. He found these matters to be as simple as a flow. To find himself caught amidst the flow of positive things, to position the world itself in the angles and manners that would most often cause success to be brought towards his ambitions and hopes, to do so in the least harmful way plausible. It is the driving cause for his specific selection of Heroics.
However, it was by far not the biggest.
There’s a shift in the balance incoming.
Arisaka foresees it- his study of the outside world, when under his pragmatic and problem-solving lens, has exposed the writing on the wall. It won’t even be limited to just himself. The world is practically primed for a change unlike anything it has ever seen before. The signs of the cracks have already begun to form. It is his duty, not just holy, but as a human, to make sure the world is prepared for the cataclysm that is bound to ensue- to tip the scale, if slightly, towards the side of good. It is in this search for worldly balance and justice that he seeks kindred souls. The curious and the just- the prepared and the overseers, those that aren’t predisposed and biased towards old systems and ways of being. The open-minded. So that he may, with their aid, uproot the society that gave way for these cataclysms to form in the first place- and to steadily recreate the world under a vision of kindness, justice and transparency. Arisaka knew, from that moment, that nothing he had accomplished before mattered in comparison to this singular drive.
Without any other consequence, the boy began the walk towards his goal.

A child had been born into the family of betrayers and usurpers that is the Noren Family, infamous for their cross breeding, causing his mother’s death during childbirth. His biological Demon father, soon after, abandoned his family amidst the bitterness of his grief. From the onset, the child understood what abandonment meant, and what it felt like. It had been left with no name- no origin- no pride nor family. Albeit his extended family worked to take care of him somewhat, the responsibility of taking care of him belonged to no one in particular. He was seen as a bad omen, and treated with this alienation. His routine became regimented. His expectations became daily. When he acquired a name, it was more of a designation– Arisaka. The name of a weapon. Because he certainly wasn’t a person. The child with no name, for one, didn’t mind this label as much- as long as it kept people away from him, it would safeguard him from being left and abandoned by those he loved. That, of course, was a mindset most easily broken.
It had been requested, by a priest of the Noren- a particularly important one, at that, despite his inadequacy in his potential- to watch over the condition of the youth. This elder was someone known as Sosuke Noren. This included far more than simply watching over training. Sosuke was someone uniquely dedicated to his religious belief and code of ethics, and it was why he had become so prominent of a figure in the Noren in the first place. The priest was minute in his analysis and study of each youngling, their upbringing, their difficulties, gauging how he could help and instruct each of them. While he couldn’t help everyone at once, his advice and teachings were relatively generalised. He was entrusted with the religious guidance of the children, mostly, but as the person he was, he wouldn’t stand to leave his reach at only this point. There was one child that stuck out to him amidst the ranks.
The one named after a weapon- the one bad omen, left behind by their family, the one whose parents died at his birth or abandoned the family shortly thereafter.
Sosuke saw the pain and the betrayal in the child’s eyes. It was something that he didn’t let slip very often, but every so often amidst his regimented routine, Arisaka would let those looks of distrust and bitterness slip through. Most worryingly, he was no older than six; yet, the seriousness and emotion carried by each gaze told a story much, much more strained than what any six year old should have. Sosuke couldn’t help but empathise with the child. Slowly, the priest began to soften Arisaka’s barriers of grief and fear. It was in the idle moments, and in the small things, that Sosuke disarmed the child’s defenses against love and care. Like all children, what Arisaka longed for was love, care, and basic comforts- he longed to be seen. And it was through Sosuke’s recognition that Arisaka slowly warmed himself back up to these senses. Allowed himself to be, once again. Sosuke helped him along- displaying the patience and compassion that Arisaka needed to be one again.
“Arisaka, my child. Treat life and others with utmost respect. It is a holy thing- a sanctuary like our shrines, everybody and every monument to life, even those we must fight and the animals that we eat, is a part of a greater whole. Everything has a spiritual worth and value. You cannot let go of this respect and awareness through your life- you must not relent to cursing the hands of existence that feed you.”
Sosuke’s lessons and guidance of kindness and gentleness to all living things instilled deep convictions into Arisaka’s life. However, it wasn’t the only thing Arisaka had learnt with him.
The lesson of accepting death.
With Sosuke no longer there to shield him, the contours of the potential that Arisaka developed were looked at with a much more sceptical eye and was said to only speak of blasphemy. The sickened control of the world through the perversion of their ki, the harrowing mockery of Shinto’s Deities through shaping and conformity. Modernity, inherent to Arisaka’s own nature through his lower potential, was repudiated. Outcasted. A taboo. And then, from that outcasting, his ideas only went down a landslide; in the gap of understanding left between his family’s now absent approval and his father’s previous guidance, Arisaka’s mind blossomed with reformist ideals. An outlook and vision, an utopia in his eyes, that he could resort to for hope. Worse yet- one he could resort to for his own actions. It was under this bathing light that he saw the way towards his own independent education, apart from his family. While never exiled, Arisaka Noren had no namesake to resort to from that initial request onward; not just was it denied, but in essence, his very own existence was refused by the Noren.
With nowhere to resort to and with his life held in a deciduous line between exile and outcast by his kin, Arisaka had no option but to branch out. While the overbearing shadow of his family continued to hold his development within their clutches, it was through the development of his own intellect and diversifying his social profile to expand into other families that Arisaka found a way to grieve. Most importantly, it became a way to vent. His self-punitive nature, however, only adamantly accrued him a positive mindset. It was, after all, the only thing he had. In an absence of representation or humanity, Arisaka had only hope and his father’s harrowing leftover advice to count on.
